Dr. Mahak Bhandari marked a significant milestone in advanced surgical care by successfully performing a live tele-robotic hernia surgery on a public stage in Ratlam, demonstrating the expanding possibilities of technology-driven, patient-centric healthcare.
The landmark procedure was conducted during a medical and academic conference held in Ratlam. While the event was underway at a public venue, Dr. Mahak Bhandari remotely performed the tele-robotic surgery on a hernia patient admitted at Shri Jain Diwakar Aurobindo Hospital, Ratlam. This achievement represents the first live tele-robotic hernia surgery performed on a public stage in Ratlam and across Central India. The surgery was completed successfully, and the patient was discharged in stable condition.
Advancing the Future of Robotic and Remote Surgery
The live tele-surgery was witnessed by over 150 doctors and surgeons, offering a unique opportunity to observe real-time application of tele-robotic surgical technology. The entire procedure was performed in strict compliance with National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, ethical practice, and clinical governance.
Redefining Surgical Access Through Technology
Highlighting the significance of this achievement, Dr. Mahak Bhandari emphasised that modern surgery is no longer confined to conventional operating rooms. The India-developed robotic surgical platform used in the procedure provides immersive visualisation, precise control, and remote operability, allowing expert surgical care to transcend geographical limitations.
This landmark live tele-robotic hernia surgery on a public stage reflects a transformative shift in healthcare delivery, bringing advanced surgical expertise closer to patients, regardless of location, and underscores the evolving role of innovation in shaping the future of minimally invasive and robotic surgery in India.
